Notable Gifts and Pledges

 

Patient Services Endowment – This endowment allows for funding, in perpetuity, for critical programs that provide care for patients and families beyond medicine. In addition to supporting a wide variety of current programs, it is also available to seed new patient services programs that require philanthropic support.

OPENPediatrics – The League provided seed money to support the work of Jeffrey Burns, MD, MPH, developer of this platform. Through OPENPediatrics, healthcare professionals can access peer-reviewed content, including accredited and non-accredited courses, expert lectures and demonstrations, interactive device simulators, protocols and medical calculators. This resource has over 60,000 registered users and is used in every country and territory worldwide.

Fetal Tissue Engineering Research Fund – The League provided seed money to support the ground-breaking research of Dario Fauza, MD, PhD, as he pioneered the treatment for birth defects through fetal tissue engineering.  The League’s support enabled Dr. Fauza to expedite his discoveries from the bench to the bedside, promising healthy lives for children in need.

BCHL Angiogenesis Innovation Fund – The League provided seed money for the establishment of this fund to support the research of the late Judah Folkman, MD and Marsha Moses, PhD of the Folkman Angiogenesis Research Institute.

Medical/Surgical ICU Simulator Suite – The Boston Children’s Hospital Simulator Program was the first hospital-based simulator at a teaching hospital in New England.  Seed money from the League allowed for the creation of this program at the hospital, a forerunner of the technologically advanced simulator programs that are in existence today.

Pediatric Ambulance – The League provided funding to purchase the first on-site ambulance for Boston Children’s Hospital.  This specially child-centered equipped pediatric ambulance enabled the Transport Team to have a rapid response to infants and children in need of immediate medical attention.

BCHL Patient Entertainment Center – The League’s first multi-year pledge established the BCHL Patient Entertainment Center, located at the main campus.  In this space, patients and families participate in a variety of daily scheduled activities, in-person and remotely.
